| "I am no longer a body, I am free..." ACM It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that Margaret Mahlman, MCC leader and friend peacefully departed this life on Wednesday afternoon 23 June 2010 attended by her family and close friends; including the Rev. Elder Troy Perry, Founder of Metropolitan Community Churches. Margaret was a key leader in MCC over the course of two decades serving as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of UFMCC. She was known for holding up a new standard of excellence and devotion in her ministry of financial management. Over the course of her time with MCC, she also served in managerial positions that proved to be critical to MCC's effective administration and her work is a part of the foundation of who we are today. Chuck Phelan of the Board of pensions remembers Margaret for her many years of service as Administrator for the UFMCC Board of Pensions (USA) and how she always so willing to make time for the many things that needed to be done, both for the board as well as our churches and pastors. "She was passionate about God's call to live in abundance both spiritually and financially and had a strong heart for service and will be deeply missed by all of us, for whom she was both a colleague and a friend." Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson, Moderator of Metropolitan Community Churches remembers Margaret's deep sense of love for both our churches, and the leaders of our churches. "She always had time for a church treasurer, who was new, or struggling, or who just needed help or insight. She was mentor to many staff members and became a beloved friend to many of our MCC leaders. Along with her dedication to excellence came her bright personality and great sense of humor. " Rev. Troy Perry will be officiating Margaret's memorial service the weekend of 10/11 July in the Los Angeles, CA area and we will be remembering her this week at the General Conference in Acapulco, Mexico. For now, let us carry in our hearts the memory of her life and the impact of her presence upon the mission and ministry of MCC as we rejoice that her suffering has come to an end, and that she is now in the arms of her God. We hold in support and prayer her partner Donna Carkeek, and extend our collective love and care to all Margaret's family and friends.
