A Message from the MCC Moderators Nominating Committee

Dear MCC Friends:
 
A special election for the position of Regional Elder for Region 2 will be held at MCC's General Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona in July 2007.

One of the most important changes adopted by the General Conference XX, held July 2001 in Toronto, Canada, is the approach to the selection of those individuals who will give spiritual leadership to our journey. The new approach is similar to the selection of a pastor in a local church -- rather than a "political" contest among a field of candidates, it entrusts a representative process to bring forward one highly qualified candidate for election to serve as the Elder in a Region. It is expected that this process will be more proactive in bringing the brightest and best of MCC leadership to serve as servant leaders in the role of Elders serving Regions.
 
The Regional Elder Nominating Committee will present to Region 2 the name of one highly qualified candidate to be considered for election as the Elder to serve the Region for the next six years. The name and qualifications of the candidate for the office of Elder serving the Region will be announced by the Regional Elder Nominating Committee to churches and delegates at least 30 days prior to the World Jubilee, as provided for in MCC Bylaws.

Applications for the position of Elder for Region 2 shall be submitted to the Moderator's Nominating Committee no later than March 31, 2007. 
 
Please complete and submit the following:
 
- A resume or curriculum vitae with the following information:
 
- All work experience
 
- Education from secondary school/high school to the present, including vocational training and significant continuing education
 
- Publications
 
- Workshops developed and conducted
 
- Professional associations and affiliations (e.g. service on a non-profit board of directors, member of ministerial council, etc.)
 
- Any other relevant information
 
- Statement of Call to be a Regional Elder; this should articulate your sense of being called to serve as a Regional Elder and how God has led you to make this application
 
- Statement of Vision for the Region; describe your vision for the work that you will be doing with the churches and leaders in this region; what will you be working towards and what will you call others to do.
 
- Statement of Faith and your Spiritual Journey; a look at what you believe and how your faith has changed over the course of your life, this is an opportunity to let the committee come to know you spiritually
 
- Statement of Transformational Leadership; include your experience in leading a group through a period of change, growth and developing new initiatives.
 
- Outline your thoughts on collegial leadership
 
- Statement of Multi-Cultural and Multi-National Competencies and Experience; how have you participated in and led multi-cultural and/or multi-national groups, what are your areas of competency in working with people who are different than yourself and how you have learned from that.
 
Please try to limit each statement (not including the resume) to no more than two type-written, single-spaced pages.
 
If you are selected as a finalist, pleased be prepared to:
 
· Undergo a criminal background check
 
· Be interviewed by telephone conference call.
 
Members of the Regional Elder Nominating Committee are appointed by the Board of Elders, and will include two members selected from the Moderators Nominating Committee and three members from Region 2 elected at the last Regional Conference.
