I'm writing today to say thank you!

This is such an exciting time for MCC globally and as we look forward to MCC's 40th Anniversary in October, I want to pause to express thanks to God - and to you! - for all that is taking place around the world through the ministry of MCC.

Today, I'd especially like to focus on the amazing things taking place in MCC churches across Latin America. As I write these words, Rev. Elder Darlene Garner is preparing to leave for Brazil for MCC's Leadership Conference, after which she will travel on to Argentina to meet with a new MCC group there.
 
Rev. Elder Garner and I want to thank you for your gifts of over $23,000 (USD) from last October's "Fellowship Sunday Offerings for Latin America." Let me share the tangible accomplishments that your generous gifts have made possible so far in 2008:
 
1) Placing an interim pastor... in Monterrey, Mexico. Rev. Fernando Frontan and the people of Casa de Luz ICM now produce two radio programs, one religious and one for human rights, that are reaching listeners throughout Latin America.
 
2) Establishing a relationship... with Universidad Biblia de Latinoamerica in San Jose, Costa Rica. This seminary admitted its first official MCC (ICM) student this year!
 
3) Preparing for and funding... the second MCC Latin America Leadership Conference. This year's event will be held during July in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and will train dozens of new ICM lay and clergy leaders.
 
4) Launching MCC's first... trilingual website (Spanish, English and Portuguese) -- www.mccregion6.net -- as well as planning for a separate site for ICM Brazil's internal communications.
 
5) Equiping and ordaining... two new clergy in Latin America, and bringing others into MCC's clergy formation process.
 
6) Affiliating... ICM Sao Paolo, Brazil.
 
I ask for your prayers for Rev. Elder Garner and all of our brothers and sisters in Latin America as they continue to move forward with the inclusive gospel of Jesus Christ!
 
As Elder Garner ministers in Argentina and Brazil during July 4-17, she asks for the following specific prayers:
 
- That the seeds being planted anew in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will bear good fruit;
 
- That MCC churches in Brazil will continue to flourish and develop healthy, strong and empowered leadership;
 
- That new MCC ministries will continue to be born and new leaders emerge throughout Mexico, Central America, and South America;
 
- That our churches all over Latin America will reach out with love and justice for all of God’s people!
 
Again, thank you for your faithfulness through MCC's annual "Fellowship Sunday Offerings." I want you to know that your gifts make possible MCC's unique, God-given calling in our world; in so may ways they are helping to tear down walls and build up hope.
 
May God continue to do the wonderful work of transforming and translating your generous gifts into tangible actions that bring hope and faith to our brothers and sisters across Latin America.
