On 8 December from 12h00 to 14h00 we are celebrating Xmas Time at Helping Hands in Gugulethu.
“Christmas is a time for love and fun, a time to reshape souls and a time to give your heart to everyone.â€
Last year with your help, as friends and members, we made it possible to put a smile on the faces of 50 young little angels from Helping Hands, in Gugulethu by sharing the Christmas spirit in a small way that made a big difference when handing out collected teddies and sweetie bags. This was really a special moment and a lasting memory because Christmas for most of these kids, is just another day and toys are only a dream. Thank you for your support in making that special moment possible.
This year, Good Hope MCC would like to make the event a little more special by having a Santa, Christmas Tree and lots of sharing. Not only do we want to give out gifts for the kids but also to assist Mable and her organisation with the general running of her centre.
The clock is ticking fast and with 1 week to go, we need your support again in creating a memorable time for these kids who come from households less fortunate than ours. If any of you are able to assist in gathering toys for kids from 1-5 years old (about 60 kids) or able to assist in the below wishlist of the organisation, it would be greatly appreciated and a blessing.
Helping Hands was founded by Mable Solani in 2003. She runs not only the educare centre from her single garage, but also offers youth programmes throughout the year, run regular workshops for adults to assist in job creation, offers HIV/Aids Counselling, Spiritual Counselling and runs a soup kitchen in the Winter months. Mable's only income is that of the Educare Centre where parents are asked to pay R70 per month per kid when possible and yet still manage to feed 2 and a half meals per day per kid. Times are tough without government support yet Mable's spirit of love and sharing never dies and her priority remains her work in the local community. She has recently been awarded as the overall provincial winner of the 2007 Community Builder Awards.
